Desires Of The Dead

"Violet can sense the echoes of those who've been murdered—and the matching imprint that clings to their killers. Only those closest to her know what she is capable of, but when she discovers the body of a young boy she also draws the attention of the FBI, threatening her entire way of life.

As Violet works to keep her morbid ability a secret, she unwittingly becomes the object of a dangerous obsession. Normally she'd turn to her best friend, Jay, except now that they are officially a couple, the rules of their relationship seem to have changed. And with Jay spending more and more time with his new friend Mike, Violet is left with too much time on her hands as she wonders where things went wrong. But when she fills the void by digging into Mike's tragic family history, she stumbles upon a dark truth that could put everyone in danger."

Slight spoiler alert.

This book was amazing, I was immediately sucked into it. I love the way Jay and Violet's relationship progresses, and the romance between them is adorable. And yes I loved the sex scene between them. It didn't tell you absolutely nothing the way Twilight did, but it didn't go into all the gory details the way a romance novel would. It was the perfect medium between the 2 and I loved it. I'm a total sucker for romance and this book nailed it. The way everything kind of wraps together is really interesting. I have to say I liked this one better than the first one.

I'd give this one a 5/5. Definitely a must read!

Now I am working on the third book in the series called The Last Echo.
All 3 books are for the Semi Charmed Summer Book Challenge

The Body Finder

"Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes that the dead leave behind in the world... and the imprints that attach to their killers.

Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find the dead birds her cat had tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer... and becoming his prey herself."

I really liked this book. I loved the combination of supernatural, crime, and romance. The friendship between Violet and Jay, along with her and her other friends is amazing. I loved the way they joke with each other and tease each other. I also loved the way the let you read from the killers point of view it gives you a glimpse into his crazy mind.

Overall its an amazing book. I would give it a 4.5/5. The only reason I wont give it a 5 is because in the beginning there are some paragraphs that aren't that well written and don't flow very well, but other than that its a great read, and I couldn't put it down.

What Happened To Goodbye

"Since her parents' bitter divorce, McLean and her dad, a restaurant consultant, have been on the move-four towns in two years. Estranged from her mother and her mother's new family, McLean has followed her dad in leaving the unhappy past behind. And each new place gives her a chance to try out a new persona: from cheerleader to drama diva. But now, for the first time, McLean discovers a desire to stay in one place and just be herself, whoever that is. Perhaps Dave, the guy next door, can help her find out. "

Just finished reading this for the Semi-Charmed Summer 2012 Book Challenge

I absolutely loved it. I took me a little while to get into, but it was still really good. Sarah Dessen is one of my favorite authors, but one thing about her books is that she makes her characters really frustrating. The way they act or the things they say always make me angry and I just want to scream at them. This book was slightly predictable, but many young adult books are. Overall I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend you read it, as well as Sarah Dessen's other books.

The next book I am reading for the challenge is The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting
